I have a suggestion along these lines. Reduce the size of government to that which is proper and the problem is solved, that is, trim the government so that all it does is protect individual rights and Bob's your uncle.

No joke, we could cut the budget by over 50% if we just let people die off when they're too old or young or poor to take care of themselves.
Then we dump military, transportation, and education spending, and we could have our debt paid off in under a decade.
