Criticism: "Baby Needs a Hug" by Frida Bing

baby_needs_a_hug

I'm not hugging that baby. Nobody is hugging that baby. Why does it have fangs? Is it a vampire or some sort of werewolf-type creature? Why draw a baby like that for a book meant for children? What were they thinking, really?

Criticism: "Just Me and My Dad" by Mercer Mayer

This is the first blog post in a series of posts in which I criticize things that need it. I do this without pity, without mercy, and with an unblinking eye.

This image is part of the last page of the children's book mentioned in the title:

see_thru_moon

Notice anything amiss? Look closely at the moon. Two stars are shining through where the unlit portion of the moon should be. Does the "artist" (and I use that term loosely) not know that the moon is actually a spherical object? It's not shaped like a banana.

Results From "The Game"

We played at Pearsall Park this week. Cory graciously agreed to take the day off so somebody else could win. I shot a 59. Paul shot a 62. Chris had a 69.

This was the first time I've ever been at Pearsall Park and it not be extremely windy. This wide open course was a nice change of pace from the narrow confines of McClain.

Disc Golf In Austin

Check out all these disc golf projects taking place in Austin, Tx:

http://www.houckdesign.com/current_disc_golf_courses.html

I might have to move to Austin.

One of them is a city facility that will have two 18 hole courses and a pro shop. I believe the courses will be pay to play.

I'm jealous of people who live in Austin for the first time in a while!

Is This For Real?

That's Wunderground's forecast for my zip code. Are we going to get a ton of rain? What's going on? This is still San Antonio, right?

My Impression of Matt Shover

While at the farm this weekend, I was shocked to see two java programmers hard at work.

Results From "The Game"

mcclain.20090807

"The Game" was moved to Monday due to Labor Day weekend. Cory wins with a personal best 57. I shoot a personal best 58. Michael and Chris shoot a 66 and a 67. Congrats to everybody. I'm not very competitive and I'm just out there trying to get better (and have some fun).

My best 4 scores have all been in the last month and a half, two 62's, a 61, and a 58. I'm getting better and my arm is almost fully recovered from the injury. I threw a few monster drives today.

As an aside, Cory is a bastard. His parents were probably married when he was conceived and born. However, Cory was able to overcome that and become the bastard he is today through constant hard work. I threw my best score by 3 and he has to throw his best score by 2 on the same day. Thanks for nothing! = )

61 at McClain

mcclain.20090803

61 is my new personal best at McClain. I might have shot a 60 but on the last hole I couldn't find my disc because it was getting dark.

My best 3 scores have all been within the last month and a half. I must be getting better. I'm very close to breaking 60!
