Play Matt Bonner More?

Matt Bonner was plus 26 in the Spurs' game tonight.

So far this year he has the second best plus/minus per minute of any Spur (he's only behind Tony Parker).

Last season he had the best plus/minus of any Spur.

He's only playing 21 minutes a game this season. Maybe Pop should play him more?

NBA Plus/Minus Stat

I just noticed tonight while looking at the box score for the Spurs/Suns game that ESPN has a player's plus/minus for the game.

So, for example, Matt Barnes was an amazing +20 for the game. That means during the 34 minutes he played, the Suns outscored the Spurs by 20.

For the Spurs, Bruce Bowen was the player with the best plus/minus for the game, +12.

I think the NBA should give out an end of year trophy for the player with the best total plus/minus for the season.

We Aren't the Champions

My basketball team lost in the championship game of the league we play in today. The last time we were in that game, Bobby Anderson hit a big shot with no time on the clock to beat us. This time, a guy named "Leon" scored 35 or 40 points against us. We are all pretty disappointed. Maybe next season.

One More Win

My basketball team won two playoff games this weekend. We play in the championship game at 3:30 pm next Sunday. Woot!

One Down, Three to Go

My basketball team won this season's first playoff game. Three more wins and we win the championship for the first time ever.

I had 11 points and I was 5 for 5 from the free throw line.

We're Number One

I've played in a particular basketball league 13 or 15 times in a row now. The league runs three times a year. For the first time ever, my team won the regular season in our division and we are the number one seed for the playoffs. We finished with 8 wins and 2 losses. We get a first round bye. Woot and booya!

We play at 4pm on Sunday. Maybe we can finally win a championship. We deserve one! = )

People who spend their lives sitting on the couch don't get sprained ankles.

I'm a Flat Out Baller?

I scored 32 points in a basketball game tonight. It's the most I've ever scored in a game with referees. However, we lost and were eliminated from the league's playoffs. We only had four players and so we didn't have a realistic chance to win. It felt good to put up a big number after not getting to play or touch the ball a whole lot this season.

(Michael wanted me to mention that he had 11 points.)

SPX Beats Last Year's Champions in First Game of Season

The basketball team I play on, SPX (Saint Pius X), played the first game of our new season tonight and we beat last year's league champs.

BrianB hit a huge three from behind the NBA 3-point line to put us up 3 with 20 seconds to go. RyanG is probably the best player in the league and he had a great game.

We've historically had trouble in this league. However, we came in second in the third division last season (losing the championship game on a tough shot with a second left by Bobby Anderson) and tonight was a great start to this season.

I managed to get 5 points this game, but I wasn't able to hit any of the three jump shots I took. I need to be able to hit open jump shots from the wings about 12 to 16 feet out or I'm not helping us on offense very much. My passing and ball movement will always be there but I need to hit a few shots just to keep the other team honest.
